A 38-year-old man allegedly strangled his four-year-old son to death and then hanged himself to death in Badshahpur Village near Gurgaon, police said on Wednesday.
The man has been identified as Devendra, who went out somewhere with his son Chirag around three days ago and never returned home. A missing report was filed by his wife on the same day, said a police official.
He further said, the police then started locating Devendra through mobile network and finally he was located near an isolated field in the outskirts of the village.
When a police team reached there, they found Chirag’s body. After further search, Devendra’s body was found hanging in a cottage in the centre of the field.
“Both the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination and reports are awaited. However, from preliminary investigation it appears that Devendra first allegedly strangled his son to death and then killed himself,” said a senior official.
He further said that the reason behind the extreme step hasn’t been ascertained yet. Devendra is succeeded by his wife and one-year-old daughter. His wife reportedly told the police that he often used to leave home after fighting with her, and did not return for days.
