A miscreant was caught by the CISF personnel at Rajiv Chowk Metro station on Thursday who used  to enter regularly through the security system of the Metro station and steal baggage of other passengers from the X-Ray baggage inspection system output roller and flee from the station premises.

“Our surveillance and intelligence unit of the DMRC got the information through sources that for the past 2-3 days, a person used to get entry through the security system of “F” Block at Rajiv Chowk between 6 pm and 6.50 pm. After receiving the information about the accused, we were on the lookout and kept an eye on such activity during the suspected hour,” said Hemendra Singh, CISF spokesperson.

“At about 6.45 pm, a passenger came at the security point at “F” Block of the Metro station and after security check he went to the TOM (Token Operating Machine) area and returned from there. Again he repeated the same thing. Our team caught him and asked why he was indulging in the act.

Initially, he did not cooperate but when he was brought to the Station Controller Room and showed the CCTV footage, he accepted his mistake. He further disclosed that on Wednesday evening, he had picked a bag of a lady passenger at Rajiv Chowk Metro station which contained one laptop, two pens and a pair of goggles,” said Singh.

The CISF personnel recovered Rs 750, one ATM card, a Metro card and an Aadhar Card from his possession.

The accused was identified as Akash Kumar (32), a resident of Paharganj. He was handed over to the Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP) by the CISF for further legal action.
