Man held for murdering cop

A man wanted for allegedly mowing down a Delhi Police constable in north-east district has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday. Arif, 22, an associate of criminals from Mewat region and a resident of Tikri Kheda village of Faridabad in Haryana, was arrested on Monday by the Special Cell from near a cold storage at Naujheel in UP’s Mathura district, a senior police official said. ‘Arif is a dangerous and desperate inter-state criminal. He was wanted for crushing to death a Delhi Police constable in Bharat Nagar police station area in north-west district,’ DCP, Special Cell, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said. A reward of Rs 50,000 was declared for his arrest, the DCP said. During interrogation, Arif alias Kainchu alias Jishan alias Jhabbu said that he had crushed to death the constable when his gang’s vehicle was intercepted while fleeing from an area of North-West Delhi, the DCP said. The gang operates in Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
