Man held for murder of minor girl in Narela

Police on Thursday arrested the neighbour of the 13-year-old girl whose body was found dumped in the bushes near a government school in Outer Delhi’s Narela area on Wednesday.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Shamsher, alias Sheru (23).
He was arrested on the basis of the CCTV footage. The police had registered a kidnapping complaint as per the statements of the missing girl’s brother.
Police said that based on the technical surveillance and tip-off from the informers, they laid a trap and arrested Sheru from the Delhi-NCR border area.
During extensive police interrogation, Sheru broke down and revealed that the 13-year-old girl was passing through the narrow lane where he lived when he kidnapped her. When she tried to raise an alarm, he strangulated her to death. After killing her, he put the girl’s body in a sack and took it to an isolated spot near the government school. Police said that it is not confirmed whether the minor was girl was sexually assaulted since they are waiting for the post-mortem reports to ascertain the exact facts.
According to a senior police official, Sheru lived in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and had been living in the Pana Paposiya village in Narela for the past few years where he was working as a labourer.
The official also said that Sheru is a heavy drinker and used to cause nuisance for the people living around him.
