Man held for drug smuggling

A 35-year-old man, who had spent over three years in jail in a drug case, was arrested for allegedly possessing heroin worth Rs 30 lakh in the market, police said today.
Islam Shah was arrested allegedly with 300 gms of heroin when he had gone Geeta Colony in east Delhi to deliver the drug to a contact.
Shah, who came to Delhi some 15 years ago as a labourer, allegedly came in contact with drug traffickers and was arrested by Delhi Police in 2001 along with other drug traffickers on the charge of possession of 400 gms of heroin.
"Islam Shah had remained in jail for three years and come out in 2005 and again started trafficking in drugs. He procured drugs from Bareilly, UP, and sold it to drug peddlers in Delhi," Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime, said.
