Man gets thirty two years for kidnapping, raping toddler

A youth has been sentenced to 32 years in jail by a Delhi court for kidnapping and raping a toddler after entering her house for committing a theft.
Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau jailed 21-year-old Uday Kumar Yadav observing that he is a ‘predatory paedophile’ and a ‘menace’ to the society as he had not spared even a year-old child.
The court sentenced the youth to seven years in jail for kidnapping the toddler and with life imprisonment (20 years) for raping her while imposing upon him a five-year jail term for stealing a mobile phone from the house.
The court said all three sentences would run one after one and stipulated that the convict should not be given any remission in his sentence unless he spends an actual sentence of 20 years of life term.
The court also praised the investigating officers who had cracked the case on the basis of electronic surveillance and forensic evidence.
It said it would have been difficult to nab the culprit ‘had it not been for the excellent work done by the initial investigating officers who had cracked this case on the basis of electr onic surveillance and analysis of data while the forensics (DNA finger printing) came to the aid of the investigating agencies as a handy tool later.’
‘It was only then that accused Yadav could be actually cornered and the credit for the same is required to be given to this team of the investigators for the efficient use of the aforesaid investigation techniques,’ the court added.
It also asked the Delhi government to pay a compensation of Rs one lakh to the family of the victim for her welfare and rehabilitation.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 upon the youth stating that if realised, the amount should be given to the victim.
As per the prosecution, the incident took place on 24 September night last year when Yadav entered the victim’s house at Narela in North Delhi to commit a theft.
While stepping out of the house with a mobile phone, he also picked up the toddler sleeping with her parents, the prosecution said adding he took her to a nearby park and left her there after raping her.
After committing the offence, he made a call to the PCR with the two stolen mobile phones of victim’s father and her neighbour but he could not speak much as the battery of the gadget got discharged. The injured child was recovered next morning from the park.
The two stolen mobile phones were immediately put on surveillance by the police which came to know through the call records that the accused had made calls to Bihar to her family from both the phones, the court said.
Yadav was caught after the call records were sent for voice analysis, it added.
The exhibits of crime scene were sent for DNA finger printing along with Yadav’s blood samples which concluded that the crime was done by him.
Denying mercy to the convict, the court said, ‘He is a predatory paedophile who is a menace to the society and does not spare even a one-year-old child. Leaving him at large would be hazardous to the community.’
‘What the convict has done is unimaginable, unthinkable and chilling. This is something what even an animal would not do. How can a child so small as one year arouse the lust of another?,’ the court said.
