Man dumps infant nephew in drain

In a shocking incident, a man kidnapped and dumped his 18-month-old nephew in a drain in east Delhi to take revenge on the toddler’s parents, with whom he had some personal enmity. Delhi police have arrested Mohammad Abid but neither the infant has been traced nor his body recovered from the drain.
Sartaj, who lives in Khureji and runs a mobile phone shop in Jagatpuri in east Delhi, had lodged a police complaint on 25 January that his brother Abid had kidnapped his son Zaid from his mother’s house on 23 January. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Abid on 25 January after which he was taken on remand for eight days. Abid told police that he took Zaid and dumped him at Ghazipur drain to settle scores with his sister-in-law who had complained against him to police a few days before the incident took place.
