Man bludgeoned to death, set afire to conceal identity

A partially decomposed body was found abandoned in a forest area just a few meters away from the police station on Tuesday morning. Police suspect that the assailants brutally murdered the victim by bludgeoning him to death with stones and later set his body on fire to destroy his identity.

The incident was reported from South-east Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar forest area and came to light at around 8 am on Tuesday morning after local people who were passing by the area saw the body and alerted the police. Prima facie investigation suggests that the assailants were known to the victim and had brought him to a secluded area so that they could execute the murder. The deceased was around 25-year-old. They first bludgeoned the victim to death and later set his body on fire. Soon, after the call was made to police control room, the jurisdictional police rushed to the spot and carried out investigations.

During investigation, when the police spoke to the people in the area, they allegedly informed the police that the skin had began to wear out and looked like that animals tried to eat his body. “We are yet to establish the identity of the deceased as there was no identity card found on the body. Also, we have alerted our counterparts to find out if any missing complaint has been registered. We are also questioning the people in the area,” said a police official.
