Man beats friend to death over financial dispute

A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by one of his friends over a financial dispute in Kamla Market in central Delhi on Thursday night.

According to police, the matter came to light when a man, identified as Jahangir (30), was rushed by some locals to a central Delhi hospital on Thursday night, with serious injuries on his body. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The hospital authorities later called the police control room to report the incident.

‘Preliminary investigations suggests that the injuries on his body were caused after being beaten up severely. His body has been sent for a postmortem examination,’ said Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Central).

He further said after interrogating some locals it emerged that the victim was seen being beaten up  and soon one of the accused were identified.

The relatives of the victim staged a demonstration outside the police station in Kamla Market on Friday demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The crowd dispersed only after they were assured that police was trying hard to nab the accused, who was on a run, as soon as possible.

The accused, identified as Amir, was arrested on Friday evening and booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC. He was a friend of Jahangir, who owed some money to him, said Alok Kumar. He further said the police is investigating whether more people were involved in the murder.
