A government employee has been asked to pay Rs 18,000 per month as maintenance to his estranged wife and daughter by a Delhi court, which also restrained him from committing any act of violence against them.
The court also restrained the man, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi, from alienating a property, which is jointly held by the couple without the woman’s consent.
Metropolitan magistrate Vandana Jain directed the man, working as an artist with Municipal Corporation of Delhi, to pay Rs 9,000 per month each to his wife and 23-year-old daughter.
The court rejected the contention of the man that his daughter has attained majority and was not entitled for maintenance, saying he has to maintain her as she was sick.
