Man arrested with stolen toothpaste worth Rs 9.5 lakh in capital

A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing cartons containing toothpaste tubes worth Rs 9.5 lakh, police said on Wednesday. Manavvar was arrested when he had gone to dispose of the goods on Monday, they said, adding that a truck used in the robbery and a country made pistol alongwith two live cartridges were also recovered. Police acted on a specific input that a member of gang of highway robbers, who had raided a truck of Colgate toothpaste cartons from Dudu near Jaipur, is attempting to dispose of the goods at Majnu ka Tila. Police asked the driver to stop the vehicle and arrested Manavvar who said he came in contact with one Wasim, Zaqir, Sharafat, Anwar and Ashu who commit highway robberies.
