Man arrested with 1,700 quarter bottles of arrack

A team from Patel Nagar police station has arrested Preman, 33, and recovered 34 cartons containing 50 quarter bottles of illicit country made liquor each – a total of 1,700 quarter bottles – from his possession. On a secret information that a Mahendra Champion Tempo carrying huge quantity of illicit liquor would pass through Shadipur Depot to Libaspur, a team was made and the accused was arrested.
On sustained interrogation, the accused person revealed his identity as Preman. Accused Preman further disclosed that two persons met him at Delhi-Haryana border and told him to supply illicit liquor in Delhi. For this, he was promised a lot of money. As Preman was in dire need of money, he apparently accepted the offer. Further investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to arrest remaining accused, who are still at large.
