Man arrested for killing his paramour

In a fresh twist in the alleged suicide of a 40-year-old woman, whose body was found inside her lover’s Eco Sports car outside the Bonta Park of North Delhi’s Maurice Nagar area on Tuesday night, the Delhi Police arrested Naveen Uppal (28) for killing Anjali.

After firing at her, Naveen called his uncle and wife informing them about the murder. After this he called Anjali’s elder sister informing her that Anjali had committed suicide. 

“The first call Naveen made after killing Anjali was to his uncle at around 8.00 pm. To protect Naveen, his uncle made PCR call that a woman has allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself inside Naveen’s car,” said Madhur Verma, DCP (North).

“In a relationship with Anjali for over 7 years, Naveen got married to another woman three months back. Naveen has a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter with Anjali,” said a senior police official.

According to the police, at 2 pm on Tuesday, Naveen had called Anjali to meet him to discuss about their future. After this, Anjali gave her phone to her 17-year-old son and boarded the Metro from Rithala Metro station. She then reached Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro station at around 3.30 pm. From there Naveen drove her to Yamuna Expressway. It was only around 7.30 pm when they reached the Ridge forest that he opened fire.

“After killing her, he deleted the call log from his phone. However, since Anjali did not bring her phone, he could not delete the videos and WhatsApp chats on the basis of which she was threatening to disclose about their affair,” said a senior police official.

Driving his car for more than 30 minutes after calling his uncle, Naveen was detained after cops found blood stains and a pistol, which he bought for Rs 30,000 from Ayodhya, from his car while checking vehicles near a picket at Ridge forest. During interrogation, Naveen revealed that he killed her because she was forcing him to return Rs 5 lakh which he had taken from her on different occasions some time back. Apart from this, she was forcing him to leave his happy married life. 

Anjali threatened Naveen that she will disclose their affair to everyone if he doesn’t marry her.

Sanjay Garg, Anjali’s husband, told Millennium Post that Anjali had taken Rs 5 lakh 

from her younger sister to give it to Naveen. Unable to return the money, Naveen planned to kill Anjali.
