Man accused of rape tries to kill self outside CM’s residence

A man tried to commit suicide by allegedly consuming a poisonous substance right outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday morning in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area. The man has been identified as Anoop Singh. He was charged in a rape case in South-west Delhi’s Dabri area and had wanted to meet the Chief Minister.
According to a senior police official, Anoop Singh aged between 40-45 years, lives with his family in Dabri area of South-west Delhi. He was wanted in a rape case which was registered at the Dwarka police station on Thursday.
“We are still trying to ascertain the exact sequence of events,” said a senior police official. Anoop entered the premise and the guards saw that he fell unconscious and froth was coming out of his mouth.
Police said that a PCR van rushed him to the Lok Nayak hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
