Man accused of killing three arrested from West Delhi

A 32-year-old man, who had allegedly killed three men over a property dispute in Gurgaon three years ago, was arrested by the police from Najafgarh in south-west Delhi, police said
on Tuesday.

Police also said the accused was allegedly involved in several cases of robbery, land grabbing and extortion.

Three years ago, Jaswant (32) and four of his associates were involved in a land dispute. The land
was owned by three residents of Gurgaon, all aged between 20 and 25 years. But, the accused  couldn’t strike a deal even after prolonged negotiations, said a police official. One day, they summoned the victims at their office in Najafgarh, on the pretext of negotiations, and offered them alcohol.

When the victims were in an inebriated state, Jaswant and his associates allegedly killed all three of them, burnt their bodies and dumped them near Pataudi. More than two years after the incident, Jaswant’s associates —Rajesh (alias Raja) and Bijender, both residents of Panipat, were arrested by the police. During interrogation they confessed to the crime and also admittd that they were also involved in several other land grab cases. On Sunday, the special cell of Delhi Police received a tip-off that Jaswant would come to Najafgarh in the evening in a white Swift car.

Accordingly, police laid a trap and intercepted his vehicle. Jaswant tried to escape by abandoning the car but he was soon overpowered by police officials after a short chase, said Rajiv Ranjan, deputy commissioner of police (Special Cell). Police also recovered a German-made pistol along with several live cartridges from his possession.
