Man accused of abducting, raping minor flees from jail

A 21-year-old man accused of abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl reportedly fled from the lock up of Nangloi police station of West district on June 29. According to the police, the accused identified as Lal Singh (name changed) was charged under sections of abduction and rape of a 16-year old girl.

 According to senior police officers, on June 29, he was arrested under relevant sections of rape and POCSO Act. Sources said that after he was arrested, he was kept inside the lock up since he was to be produced at a court the following day. 

Two cops were assigned to keep an eye on him. Sources also said that senior cops had instructed the two cops to keep a close eye on Singh as he was arrested under serious charges. However, they allegedly left for patrolling without informing their seniors. Taking advantage of this, Singh broke the iron grill and fled from the cell, said sources.
