Mamata’s protests against UPA on course

The festive season will see a door to door campaign on the anti-people policies of the UPA Government which Mamata Banerjee protested against by quitting.

‘The TMC workers are being mobilised to sensitise the public on the UPA Government’s withdrawal of subsidy and approval of FDI in retail. There will be some activity in the puja pandals of Kolkata also’, said ex-Minister and TMC leader Sisir Adhikari. Banerjee is scheduled to kick-off her rally from Haryana on 2 Nov, but Trinamool sources said that the rally may be deferred and a fresh date will be announced later. Banerjee also had plans to hold a rally at Lucknow on 17 Nov, party sources said.

The CM is also expected to rush to Shimla after the Pujas to campaign for TMC candidates contesting the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.

‘We want to win at least 35 of the total 42 lok sabha seats in West Bengal. TMC has now 19 MLAs in the Lok Sabha from West Bengal. Once we manage to increase the number of MLAs from 19 to 35, we would be able to play a dominating role at the national politics, which is Banerjee’s target for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections,’ TMC sources said.

TMC was the second largest ally of the UPA before they pulled out on grounds of its anti-people policies like fuel price hike etc.
