Mamata to attend interstate council meeting in Delhi

 Her party gave three notices in Parliament on Monday, to raise the price rise issue during the Monsoon session next week, including suspension of rules in Rajya Sabha.

“The party has pledged its full support to GST, but the Centre has to provide serious solutions for a couple of issues, including the price rise in the coming session,” Party’s national spokesperson Derek O’ Brien said while briefed media in the wake of the monsoon session. added.

Reportedly, after a gap of 10 years, the PM will meet chief ministers in the 11th meeting of the Inter-state Council to discuss a host of issues, including inter-state relations, internal security, atrocities on backward classes, school education, direct benefit scheme, good governance and economic and social planning.

 However, sources said that the Centre will make it an opportunity to push the pending GST Bill in the monsoon session of the Parliament to pass, apart from ensuring the solution of grievances of the respective Chief Ministers.

Meanwhile, sources said that Modi is also likely to meet Banerjee in person to discuss some important issues related to the security concerns in West Bengal, following the terror attack in Bangladesh. Illegal immigration from Bangladesh to Bengal has long been a serious concern for the Union government.

According to sources, Teesta water sharing deal could also be another major issue to be discussed, as Banerjee managed to win confidence over the deal during her last visit in Bangladesh.
