It became operational with an inaugural Air India flight to London via Delhi on Wednesday.
The AAI has installed an 18-feet-high bronze statue of Netaji which was unveiled by President Pranab Mukherjee, who inaugurated the new terminal.
The new terminal would be capable of handling 20 mn passengers, 16 mn in domestic, four mn international, annually.
