Mamata fetes ‘panchkanyas’

The function was held at the Science City auditorium in the city.
The five lucky women who adorned the stage and received awards were Bollywood heroines, Rani Mukherji, Bipasha Basu, Sushmita Sen, Mousumi Chatterjee and one of Tollywood’s leading heroines, Koel Mullick. Each of them received uttariyas and trophies from Banerjee.
Said an emotional Chatterjee, ‘All’s well that ends well. Mamatadi has done that...the end was simply brilliant’.
‘The public has blessed me for the last 10 years and I pray that the city audiences bless me for the next 10 years’, Koel said.
Rani Mukherjee, a favourite with audiences in the city, was effusive about the experience. ‘All of us Bengalis who do Hindi films were there on the stage...Bipasha Basu, Moushumi Chatterjee... and meeting Mamata Banerjee was great because Kolkata has changed so much after she came into power’, she said. Mukherjee also praised the glittering lights on her way to the city from the airport, ‘Kolkatawas shining brightly’, she said. Some of the parents of the stars were also invited and felicitated on stage during the ceremony.
The chief minister who is building two new film studios also spoke about encouraging development in the film industry in Bengal.
