Mamata Banerjee orders CID probe into missing scribe case

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday ordered a CID probe into a case of a journalist who went missing. “On July 28, an incident had occurred. After <g data-gr-id="15">that</g> we had made arrests,” Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat <g data-gr-id="12">Nabanna</g> here. “The IGP, North Bengal <g data-gr-id="13">Gyanwant</g> Singh has been sent there. I have also asked the CID to inquire into the matter,” she said, adding, “We want the truth to come out. The police will investigate in detail.” The reporter of a Bengali daily was missing from his home in Alipurduar district since on Sunday after eight persons, earlier named by him in an FIR for issuing threats for writing a college admission bribery story, were arrested.
