Maliwal meets LG Baijal, requests to resolve issues

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. In a meeting that lasted for half an hour, Maliwal requested the LG to resolve the pending issues of non-payment of salaries to the contractual staff members. Maliwal also raised the issue of the appointment of permanent Member Secretary to DCW. 

The DCW Chairperson also discussed in detail about her differences with former LG Najeeb Jung and mentioned the importance of maintaining the autonomy of the commission. Maliwal again reiterated the issue of the formation of a high level committee to ensure safety and welfare of women and children in Delhi. Maliwal explained that the high level committee will comprise the Union Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor, Delhi Chief Minister, Delhi Police Commissioner and the DCW Chairperson. The committee will  formulate laws towards the safety of women and will continuously monitor the progress.
