Malhotra Junior on a ‘blessings seeking spree’

In this electoral battle, Ajay Malhotra son of leader of Opposition in Delhi assembly VK Malhotra, seems to be on a desperate lookout for blessings. Ajay, who has been ‘blessed’ with Bharatiya Janata Party’s ticket from Greater Kailash to replace his father seems more interested in getting close to senior party leaders rather than going to the voters.

Ajay Malhotra, who was declared BJP’s nominee from Greater Kailash assembly seat last Wednesday, has released four communiques to the media — all emphasising on ‘blessings’. The first blessing came from his father VK Malhotra on 7 November, a day after his candidature was announced, at a ‘felicitation ceremony’ organised by party workers. Senior Malhotra and leaders of his generation showered their blessings on junior Malhotra to win the election battle at the event.

Ajay then visited party veteran LK Advani on 8 November early in the morning to get his blessings for his debut in electoral politics. On 9 November, he met leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, to seek his blessings for a successful political career. Jaitley is reported to have encouraged Ajay and assured him of his support.

Malhotra Junior on Tuesday reached the residence of leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj to seek her well wishes. Swaraj congratulated Ajay on his nomination and wished him good luck for the elections. ‘He doesn’t have any political experience in the constituency. It’s the blessings of public, won by hard work and always being with them, which turns into votes,’ said Virender Kasana, Congress councilors who is seeking a ticket from Greater Kailash.

Meanwhile, Malhotra Senior is touring the constituency with his son and holding public meetings. His mother Krishna Malhotra is also holding separate door-to-door meetings with women voters to get their blessings for Ajay.
