Major fire broke out at a shoe factory in Outer Delhi’s Narela area and in a Maruti Suzuki showroom in South-east Delhi’s Amar Colony. However, no causalities were reported in the two incidents.
In the first incident, a fire broke out at a shoe factory on Friday. According to the fire department officials, 32 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire department received a call at around 4.40 am about the fire. Based on which, initially 25 fire tenders were pressed into service. However, since it was difficult to control the flames, more fire tenders were pressed into service. “The fire started at 4:40 am at a three-storeyed building and by 9.30 am, the fire fighters were able to douse the flames. No casualties or injuries were reported,” said a senior Delhi Fire Service official. Meanwhile, police allegedly said that the cause of the massive fire could be short-circuit.
In the second incident, a fire broke out at the showroom of Maruti Suzuki in Amar Colony at around 9.25 am. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control with the help of only one fire tender.
According to the fire department officials, it was a two-storeyed building and the fire took place on the ground floor. Two cars were also gutted in the fire. However, no casualties were reported. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, said the official.
