‘I will adopt all 44 villages in my constituency and turn them into a successful model within his present tenure by 2019, however, ‘Chilla’ would be the first village to be modelled under the scheme,’ said Girri on this occasion. He emphasised on the 3 Cs — Capacity, Culture and Confidence for the holistic development of the intended model village and are ready to explore the strengths of private, cooperative and voluntary sectors to capacitate these villages, starting with Chilla.
The village falls in the assembly constituency of Trilokpuri and lacks basic amenities like water supply, road infrastructure and a mechanism for waste management. If it is to be modelled as Adarsh village, it has to be done focussing on key indicators of development like education, health and nutrition, employment and social security. Girri is the third MP in the city to adopt a village in his constituency under the scheme after South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri had adopted Bhati Mines and New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi adopted Old Pilanji village in their respective parliamentary constituencies.
