Maharatna company officers’ body demands quick pay hike

COMCO represents more than 1 lakh officers of seven Maharatna PSUs of the country namely Bhel, Coal India Ltd (CIL), GAIL (India) Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), NTPC, ONGC and SAIL.
COMCO Convener and IOOA President Mukul Kumar explained that PSU officers are facing severe hardships in managing their family needs due to the severe erosion in real value of their income, in view of spiraling inflation of the past six years.
The provisions of DA increase and annual 3 per cent increment have failed to counter the escalation in expenditure for basic needs, they pointed out. The issue has been taken up at all forums, including the PMO, but no action has been taken so far, they added.
COMCO urged the Government to intervene immediately. It also urged the Government to provide interim relief by merging the 50 per cent DA with basic pay (BP) wef January 2012 and that the ad hoc relief be released immediately.
