Maggi noodles perfectly safe, says Nestle

Manufacturers of Maggi - Nestle India on Thursday said that its noodles and other products comply with all applicable food safety laws, after authorities in Uttar Pradesh reportedly found <g data-gr-id="37">dangerously-high</g> lead content in the product. The company also said that there was “no order to recall” Maggi noodles from the market.
Explaining the incident, in which the UP government authorities asked the company to withdraw around 2 lakh packets of the popular noodle, an official of the company said: The product was manufactured in February 2014 and had already reached the ‘Best Before date’in November 2014...In the <g data-gr-id="29">meantime</g> it is important to note that there are no other orders to recall MAGGI noodle products in the market. People can be confident that Maggi Noodle products are safe to eat.”
“The company has in place strict food safety and quality controls at our MAGGI factories, including thorough quality checks at each stage of our raw material sourcing and manufacturing process,” another official of the company said.
The official further said that authorities in the company “regularly monitor lead (content) as part of the company’s stringent quality control processes, including testing by accredited laboratories”.
“These tests have consistently shown lead levels in MAGGI Noodles to be within permissible limits. We have submitted product samples to an independent accredited laboratory and will share the results with the authorities,” he said.
The company also rejected the charge that it adds MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) to Maggi noodles. “We do not add MSG to our MAGGI Noodles sold in India and this is stated on the concerned product,” the official said.
