M Ravindran named GAIL Director (HR)

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) managing director (MD) M Ravindran has been selected Director (Human Resources) of GAIL (India) Ltd by the Public Sector Enterprises Selection Board (PSESB).
Ravindran has 31 years’ experience in fertilizers, petrochemicals, gas pipelines, transmission and urban gas business.. He worked with National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) for nine years till 1990, where he was involved in operations and maintenance of the ammonia plant.
After joining GAIL in 1990, he was associated with the petrochemicals project at the Uttar Pradesh petrochemical complex at Pata. He has more than eight years of experience in project feasibility, execution, construction and commissioning of polymer plants.
He also has varied experience in cross-country pipeline, O&M facilities & gas processing units of Vaghodia and Vijaypur. He has also been in charge of the pipeline headquarters at Vijaypur and was responsible for the overall maintenance of the HVJ & GREP pipeline. From 2008 to October 2011, Ravindran headed the GAIL city gas business (CGD ) as the first CEO of GAIL Gas Ltd. Under his leadership, GAIL Gas participated and won rights for undertaking CGD business in the cities of Meerut, Kota, Dewas and Sonepat in the first round of bidding held in the regulatory regime.
In October 2011 he took over as managing director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) to Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
Ravindran holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from NIT, Kurukshetra, and a diploma in management.
