M-cap of top 9 firms tanks Rs 58,987 crore; Reliance Industries hit hard

Amid a weak stock market, top-nine Sensex companies saw a cumulative loss of Rs 58,987 crore in market capitalisation (m-cap) last week, with energy majors—RIL and ONGC — taking the steepest hit among the blue-chips.
Over the past week, the stock market benchmark Sensex lost 530.66 points or 2.5 per cent to 20,666.15.
While TCS, RIL, ITC, ONGC, CIL, HDFC Bank, Bharti, HUL and HDFC saw losses in their market value, Infosys on the other hand made gains.
The m-cap of ONGC plummeted by Rs 10,695 crore to Rs 2,37,243 crore, making it the worst performer among the top-10 companies.
After ONGC, another energy major RIL saw its valuation plunge Rs 10,662 crore to Rs 2,82,872 crore.
