Lt Guv visits night shelters in capital

The LG visited Yamuna Pusta night shelter and enquired about the basic amenities, which are being provided in the night shelter. The LG personally asked inmates about their difficulties and services provided by the concerned department. He assured inmates of increasing the number of toilets and other basic amenities.

Jung also visited Yamuna Bazar night shelter, situated near Hanuman Mandir, and interacted with the people staying in the Night Shelter. He expressed satisfaction over the work done by NGO in providing basic amenities to the people living at night shelter. He also gave assurance regarding use of vacant place as a permanent night shelter at Yamuna Bazar.

At the night shelter near Jama Masjid being run by NGO Aman Biradri, Jung was asked by the NGO for provision of a play ground for children. In this shelter there are separate tents for males, females and families. In his visit to the night shelter at Asaf Ali Road, he showed satisfaction with the amenities available.

Jung stressed the need for policy formulation on the issue and also directed the officials to ensure proper treatment to people who are in need of the state support. The LG drew special attention towards the needs of homeless women and children as they are most vulnerable.
