‘LoP’s wife, North MCD Councillor party to graft’

“It was detected that an applicant at the Central Information Commission (CIC) being a retired bank-official presently getting pension of Rs 31,540 per month from a bank had approached the CIC for non-payment of pension to his disabled wife allegedly because of funds not being provided by the Delhi government to Municipal Corporations of Delhi,” said senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey.

“MCD officials and area Councillor Shobha Vijender approved the pension and even started paying it without any proper verification of the form. CIC-verdict reveals a quota of 750 pensions each of Rs 1,000 per month in various welfare-schemes from each of the 272 Municipal Wards costing the three MCDs a total huge annual amount of Rs 244.80 crores. It is in addition to parallel such pension-schemes run separately by the Delhi government with possibility of some getting pensions both from the MCD and the Delhi government cannot be ruled out,” said Pandey.

AAP challenged Vijender Gupta to clear their stand on the MCD pension scam. CIC in its order said that shocking details about massive irregularities in pension-schemes run by North Delhi Municipal Corporation have come to light, involving the BJP councillor of Rohini area and wife of Gupta, Shobha Vijender.

CIC has directed the Mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and area Councillor to explain how an ineligible person was endorsed for pension on whose application it had chided the office of Arvind Kejriwal.

Information Commissioner Sridhar Acharyulu directed Rohini area Municipal Councillor and BJP leader Shobha Vijender, Mayor Ravinder Gupta to explain how the ineligible applicant was recommended for pension in “glaring violation of income norms”.
