Long power cuts spell misery in UP and NCR

Normal life in UP-NCR has been disrupted due to the frequent power cuts lasting up to six to 12 hours. Over the past few days, numerous cases of outage and line-tripping have come to light. According to residents of Noida and <g data-gr-id="29">Gaziabad</g>, the situation gets worse on weekends as massive power outages take place both during days and nights. Industrial belts of both the areas are also facing <g data-gr-id="30">crisis</g> because of the same. .
“The Mercury is over 44 <g data-gr-id="28">degree</g> Celsius and the people are forced to live without power. <g data-gr-id="27">Majority</g> of colonies, including the posh areas have been witnessing more than six hours of outage daily. Diesel-run generators, which supply power on high cost have become the main source of electricity these days. Diesel generators are not just costly but are adding to <g data-gr-id="26">sound</g> and air pollution. We have conveyed our anger to the <g data-gr-id="36">discoms</g> and if situation remains same we will start agitation,” said NP
Singh, president of Noida Residents Welfare Association.
As per the report, residents across sectors 11, 12, 15, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, 34, 55, 56, 71 and other parts of Noida have complained of massive cuts. Both urban and rural regions under Greater Noida have also been hit hard as residents complain of daily power cuts of more than 10 hours. Regular outages in Noida’s Phase — I, II and III and the industrial belts of Greater Noida have also left industrialists fuming. “Industries, which are <g data-gr-id="34">lifeline</g> of the city are in deep crisis due to massive outages these days. Despite assuring <g data-gr-id="32">supply</g> of round the clock electricity, regular power cuts are taking place. Industries are surviving only due to high capacity generators, which are proving costly,” said Vipin <g data-gr-id="37">Malhan</g> president of Noida Entrepreneurs Association.
