Lokayukta notice for 3 IAS officers, 2 others

Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra has served notices to five senior state officials, including three IAS officers, in connection with the multi-crore Noida farmhouse allotment scam.
The notices were sent to former chairman of the Noida Authority and IAS officer Lalit Srivastava, ex-superintendent of Jal Nigam Suresh Chandra, former CEO Noida and at present posted as secretary in at the Centre Pankaj Agarwal, former general manager UPSIDC Yashpal Singh and retired IAS officer as well as ex- CEO of Noida Authority Mohinder Singh.
According to sources while Lalit Srivastava and Suresh Chandra have been asked to appear before Lokayukta on 9 January, Pankaj Agarwal would appear to record his statement on 3 January, Yashpal Singh on 10 January and Mohinder Singh on 16 January.
Two senior IAS officer, who were on the Noida Board to approve the allotment, SB Tiwari, presently additional commissioner, Azamgarh and commissioner Moradabad S K Verma appeared before the Lokayukta last week and recorded their version. While Mohinder Singh, who is now settled in Ludhiana, has been served notice through police and the kingpin of the scam Yashpal Singh has been asked as why ineligible people were allotted the farm land while the eligible forms were rejected.
UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in August had entrusted the UP Lokayuktya with carrying out an inquiry into the alleged multi-crore Noida farmhouse scam occurred during the previous Mayawati regime.
The then Noida CEO Mohinder Singh and 14 others were held responsible for irregularities in the allotment of farmhouses which caused a loss of Rs 1,000 crore to the state exchequer.
Meanwhile, the Lokayukta office has decide to appoint fourth consultant to audit the files of the Noida farm house scam as the reports of the three previous consultants were conflicting. Sources said the three expert consultants companies – Abhinan & Company Chartered Accountant, New Delhi, UP Industrial Consultancy Company(A public sector unit) and Mr Rao -Bharadwaj & Company Chartered Accounts, Ghaziabad – have given their reports on the farm house scam but it was confusing.
