Lokayukta gives clean chit to Vijender Gupta

<span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">Lokayukta has given a clean chit to former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta in a case of alleged corruption related to the buying of school uniforms for primary students.
‘The process of selection of agencies for procurement of uniforms does not indicate any such lack of bonafides or ulterior consideration or undue influence of any person in decision making,’ said Manmohan Sarin, Delhi Lokayukta, in his orders on Friday.
Sarin in his order, however, favoured an open bidding system but ruled that this administrative procedure, ‘unless vitiated by demonstrated ulterior consideration or lack of bonafides must be respected’.
The controversial purchase of uniforms was ordered during <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">Gupta’s tenure as chairman of standing committee of MCD from 2007-08. As per the complaint filed by senior Congress leader and former mayor of Delhi Farhad Suri, the corporation did not follow the open bid system to favour certain suppliers. In his <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">order Lokayukta dismissed his petition and served clean chit to Gupta and MCD.
‘The complaint was mischievous and motivated by <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">political interests of Congress <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">leader Farhad Suri with a malicious intent,’ said <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important">Vijender Gupta. ‘The complaint was filed solely to fetch political mileage to Congress and tarnish my image,’ he added.
