Load shedding woes for E Delhi localities

Trans-Yamuna areas, especially East Delhi localities such as Patparganj, Ghazipur and Mayur Vihar, will have to bear with rotational load shedding due to the ongoing maintenance work in the Badarpur Thermal Power Station (BTPS).
BTPS had to start maintenance work after its Ghazipur substation-220 KV grid broke down on Monday night.‘This is constraining the flow of electricity to the Ghazipur grid, which in turn feeds electricity to Patparganj, Ghazipur and Mayur Vihar areas of BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL).
This has been sporadically affecting power supply in parts of East Delhi for the last couple of days,’ BSES officials said.
On BYPL’s request, Delhi Transco Limited has agreed to loan 220 KV ‘jointing kits’ and ‘cable spools’ to UPPCL for fixing this issue. It is expected that
UPPCL will be able to restore the 220 KV line in a couple of days.
