Load shedding reduced due to pleasant weather: Delhi govt

Delhi government on Sunday issued an official bulletin on the power situation, in which it clearly stated that due to pleasant weather there was minimal load shedding by power distribution companies (discoms) on Sunday, except in those areas where it was done out of technical necessity.
While the Reliance-owned BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani) issued rotational load-shedding in its areas, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited has not conducted any load-shedding in their areas.
According to Delhi government’s official bulletin on 15 June, ‘Due to dip in temperatures the peak demand was below 4300 MW on 15 June. This depicts a downward trend since 12 June to 13 June 2014, where the peak demand was 4689 MW. These numbers depict a reduction worth 681 MW from 11 June, where peak demand had reached 5470 MW’.
Lieutenant-Governor, Najeeb Jung, on Sunday directed the chief secretary and senior officers of Power Department as well as discoms to ensure that all repair, restoration projects must be completed within the deadline set on 10 June 2014.
Delhi chief secretary SK Srivastava inspected Bawana-Rohini 220 KV project along with principal secretary Arun Goyal (Power) and other officers. Srivastava inspected the progress of individual towers and directed projects engineers to work 24 hours and ensure completion of the project before the target date.
According to the official, restoration work on Bamnauli-Pappan Kalan 220 KV Line will be completed on 16 June and all four towers that were severely damaged have been re-erected.
He also said that Jyoti Arora, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Power, on Sunday visited the site of Maharani Bagh -Ghazipur 220 KV line and reviewed the restoration work. ‘Badarpur-Noida-Ghazipur (UPPCL line) will also be completed by June 17,’ he said.
Reliance-owned discoms had on Saturday issued a bulletin about power outages in their areas. Both discoms on Sunday stated that there would be load-shedding for one hour on 16 June.
The main areas to be affected on 16 June are Tamur Nagar, Jamia Nagar, Batla House, Community centre, Tata Steel service DDA flats, Sidhartha Extension, Sri Niwaspuri, DV Colony, Asharam chowk, Vikaspuri, South Extention part-3 , Hastal, Kargil Apartment, Kargil Chowk, Janakpuri, Dabri More and Manglapuri, amongst others in areas supplied by BRPL.
Similarly those BSES Yamuna areas affected by the rotational cuts will include, Chunna Bhatti, GTB Encklave, Mandoli, Saboli, 240 MIG, Dilshad Colony, Vijay Park, Johripur, Yamuna Vihar, Khajori Khas, Anand Vvihar, Dilshad Garden, Kanti Nagar, Shahadra City, Seelampur, Ghonda, Karawal nagar, Nand Nagri, Ganesh Nagar, Nirman Vihar, Preet Vihar, Mother Diary, Dilshad Garden, Krishna Nagar, Sonia Vihar, etc. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited’s spokesperson said, ‘Our areas are not facing any sort of power outages since the last few days’.
