LNJP strike called off

Lok Nayak Jayprakash Hospital (LNJP) doctors called off their indefinite strike on Monday. More than 700 resident doctors went on strike on Friday demanding security in the hospital premises following the alleged assault of a female doctor by a patient’s relative.

A senior doctor on the conditions of anonymity said, ‘we called off our stir following an assurance from the Delhi Health Ministry authorities that security measures in the hospital premises will be improved.’ Emergency services had been crippled and patients faced with numerous problems owing to the strike.

Another resident doctor added, ‘We called off our strike today at noon, after we were convinced about good security measures assured to us by the principal secretary, health and our medical superintendent. Authorities have assured us that the number of guards including women guards will be increased, and the number of CCTV cameras will also be increased.’
