Lieutenant governor facilitates war veterans on Armed Forces Flag Day

Lieutenant governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung on Friday felicitated the gallantry awardees and distinguished service medal winners on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day at a function held at Raj Niwas.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit, senior officers of the Delhi government, army, navy and air force were also present at the event.
The function was organised by Rajya Sainik Board to honour the awardees. In total, 18 awardees were presented with gift cheques, including six gallantry awardees and 12 distinguished service medals.
Speaking on the occasion, Jung said, ‘It is a great honour for us to felicitate these awardees. As a civilian we have no words to express the gratitude to the armed forces for the outstanding sense of commitment with which they are performing their duties for our country and this nation has great respect for the armed forces.’
Jung also paid tribute to the personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
