LG wants quick redressal of water, power issues

One the LG reviewed the functioning of all deputy commissioners, Jung said that they should adopt a people-friendly approach and ensure time-bound delivery of services.
‘You must not forget that civil servants are meant to serve the people. You must treat this opportunity to serve the people as a privilege. ‘You must lead by example and inspire your staff to follow suit so that there is proper delivery of services to the public in your districts,’ the Lieutenant Governor said.
With mercury soaring, he directed deputy commissioners to pay special attention to shortage of water and electricity during the summers and to coordinate with governmental agencies to ensure that their districts are well-served and people are facilitated by their offices.
Jung urged the deputy commissioners to explore innovative solutions to problems in their districts, particularly those that they are likely to encounter in the coming summer months.
He also laid emphasis on field visits and instructed all deputy commissioner to review such surveys by their officers and take necessary action based on ground reports submitted to them on issues within their districts.
He also urged them to conceptualise the ideal position of their respective districts and submit a comprehensive plan to him within the next two weeks.
The divisional commissioners have been instructed to develop a fortnightly format for submission of reports on issues in each district, which is to be submitted to the Lieutenant Governor on a regular basis and will be followed by regular fortnightly meetings at the Raj Niwas.
