The Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung on Friday inaugurated the ‘65th State-Level TB Seal Sale Campaign’, while requesting Delhiites to come forward and join it for prevention and control of tuberculosis.
‘Tuberculosis continues to be a major public health challenge which requires greater attention,’ Jung said. He also stressed on the need to have a robust TB management programme which would lay stress on its prevention, early detection, and eventual cure through administration of medicines. Jung said the citizens of Delhi have always supported a noble cause and he hoped ‘they would come forward and join the campaign to prevent and cure the deadly disease’.
‘Your (Delhiites) contributions will go a long way in helping the patients, particularly belonging to the disadvantaged sections, who need assistance in tackling this disease,’ he also added. During the programme, the representatives of the Delhi Tuberculosis Association said the sale proceeds of the campaign will be utilised for providing financial grant to the TB patients, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged sections.
