LG directs govt to constitute a committee looking into homeless shelters in city

The LG gave these directions in a meeting attended by the officers and representatives of non-government organisations.
‘The committee would ensure to evolve a comprehensive and sustainable plan for the homeless people in Delhi,’ said Jung. In the meeting the representatives of various NGOs working for homeless people, apprised the LG of difficulties they were facing in running shelter homes.
Some representatives pointed out that due to increase in the number of homeless people, problems have arisen in the provision of adequate facilities. They sought more help and financial assistance from the government and necessary sensitisation of officials on the issue of homelessness.
