Let speculation over Netaji’s death end: Krishna Bose

The wife of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s nephew Sisir Kumar Bose and ex-member of Parliament Krishna Bose wants the de-classification of the controversial files on Netaji, lest it reveal some unknown facts about Netaji’s death. “There is wild speculation about Netaji’s death. But after speaking to eye-witnesses of and survivors, even  Netaji’s daughter Anita is convinced that he died in the 1945 plane crash in Taipei. The other theories – his escape and subsequent death in Siberia, his return to India as a sadhu – have no real evidence. Let the secret files be opened and let the whole nation know whether Netaji died in the plane crash or otherwise”, Krishna Bose told Millennium Post.

The ex-MP from the Trinamool Congress said that so far the de-classified haven’t revealed much except for the family’s activities, like Sisir Bose’s 1967 visit to Japan, Emilie’s letters to Sisir Bose and vice-versa, the activities of the Netaji Research Bureau. “Of course, my husband Sisir Bose who helped Netaji escape from Kolkata was suspect because he was getting in touch with INA officials
all the time.

We were trying to put together the life and ideals of Netaji and the history of the Azad Hind Movement. The Congress Government at the Centre thought it was some kind of a challenge though”, explained Krishna Bose, who has accompanied Sisir Bose on his many trips abroad. She said she did not feel the “tailing” by the intelligence agencies though. “Even if the files reveal some unpalatable facts, we dont mind. The na tion knows it all happened 60-70 years ago”, added Krishna Bose.

PMNarendra Modi has agreed to meet Netaji’s kin in Delhi again in mid-May and look into the de-classification of the 70,000 pages of classified documents. He has already outlined a committee which will monitor this mammoth exercise.
