‘LeT sleeper cell distributed funds in Muzaffarnagar riot relief camps’

Sources said, ‘Huge amount of money was distributed to several riot affected victim’s using LeT’s Muzaffarnagar module.’ A well-placed source in Special Cell told Millennium Post, ‘During the riots, a sleeper cell of the LeT, consisting of a particular religious community, was covertly active within the camp. The members of the cell were in touch with Mohammad Shahid (arrested), Rashid (arrested) and Abdul Subhan (absconding), allegedly of the LeT. The trio of terror operatives was instructing members of the cell to influence the communal riot victims under the pretext of the violence and lives claimed during riots.’
Out of the influenced persons, two have been detained by the Special Cell and were made police witnesses, with officials recording their statements in Patiala Court on Monday. They have been identified as Zameer and Liyakat. ‘Though these two suspects were the residents of Muzaffarnagar, but they were not the riot victims,’ SN Srivasatava, special police commissioner (Special Cell) said.
The LeT operatives distributed substantial funds as relief aid to ease the financial loss caused by the damage to life and property during the last September riots. ‘A multi-level conspiracy was hatched and funded by Javed Baluchi, LeT Commander, now hiding in Pakistan,’ the source said.
The strategy deployed by the LeT terror-mongers was to not only lure the poverty-stricken residents with considerable relief funds but also to brainwash the emotionally vulnerable people, inciting them towards vendetta, saying ‘Riots ka badla lena hain (You must take revenge for the riots.)’
With the help of Uttar Pradesh police, Delhi police special cell is hunting the members of the sleeper cell who were recruiting the Muzaffarnagar residents. LeT had reportedly planned terror strikes in Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. More such ‘influenced’ suspects from Muzaffarnagar, Mewat, Palval, Shamli and Hodal are likely to be arrested in the days to come. Sources in Special Cell have said that the Muzaffarnagar module was all about involving the riot-hit locals in the terror attack by recruiting and funding them to ensure their permanency and undergo ‘terror training.’
