Lekhi inaugurates sanitary napkin vending machines, incinerators

Member of Parliament, Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated two Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines and incinerators one at Working Women Hostel-Indira Niketan at Laxmibai Nagar another one at Girl Swati Hostel, Kali Bari Marg in New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area on Friday. 

The NDMC has informed that two such machines have already been commissioned at Bhagat Singh Place and Palika Kendra.

Speaking after inaugurating the vending machines and incinerators, Meenakshi Lekhi said that this is a right step towards the right direction undertaken by NDMC so as to provide hygienic health facilities to women and also to achieve a clean and healthy India by 2019.

The most common method of disposal still remains flushing out of used sanitary napkins into the drains or dumping them into grounds which are hazardous to health, she added. She further said that the NDMC has been directed to install 10 such Sanitary Napkins Vending Machines and incinerators in different localities of New Delhi area.
