The court has now fixed 14 March for hearing final arguments of CBI. District Judge JR Aryan could not hear the arguments of senior advocate R S Cheema, appearing for CBI, which had commenced final arguments in the case on 31 March, last year and the counsel for the accused had concluded their final arguments on 4 February.

The case against Sajjan Kumar was registered in 2005 on a recommendation by Justice GT Nanavati Commission. CBI had filed two charge sheets against him and the other accused in January 2010. The case relates to anti-Sikh riots that had broken out after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984.
