Latest outbreak of Ebola virus traced back to toddler in Guinea

Scientists have claimed that the origin of the latest outbreak of deadly virus Ebola can be traced back to a two-year-old toddler in Guinea. The study into the source of the deadly virus in West Africa has found that it may have been started by a boy who died within days after he fell ill with a fever, vomiting and diarrhea in a village in southeastern Guinea, the Independent reported.

According to the study, the disease reportedly spread to kill the child’s mother, three-year-old sister and grandmother, before transferring to a health care worker from Gueckedou, which lies at a crossroads between Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, giving the disease easy access to these three worst-affected countries.
