Last chance to enroll on voters list

Officials will be present to collect forms from new voters and check the names of existing voters manually in the voters list. The list of such booths will be released before 8 March, said chief election officer, Delhi, Vijay Dev.

Dev further said that in all polling stations, booth level officers will be available with a copy of the electoral roll and form 6 to facilitate all citizens to check their names and also receive their form 6.

‘Checking the name in the electoral roll is very important. Citizens think that if they have the EPIC card, they can vote. But then having an EPIC card doesn’t make one eligible to vote. It is mandatory to have your name on the electoral roll,’ said Dev.

‘So one should check if their names are there in the electoral roll, facilities for which are available on the website’, he said.

Further the person can send a SMS on 9211728082, EPIC space voter ID number, to check if their name has been enrolled. If the name exists, the person will receive a message by his serial number.

However, if the name is not there, no record found information will be returned. For differently able voters, the poll panel has initiated a sensitisation programmes for all its employees. ‘We will ensure that every differently abled person is aided to cast their vote,’ Dev added.

As weather change is expeccted with the summers around the corner, the election office has ordered  adequate arrangements of shelters at polling booths.

‘To counter the summer season, we will ensure sufficient amounts of drinking water at every polling booth. Temporary shelters will be erected at queues and proper first aid facilities will be provided,’ he said.
