Land purchase scam echoes Uttarakhand assembly

After a gap of one week, the special session of state legislative assembly resumed on Monday in which six bills including the Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill was tabled.
The opposition alleged why is the ruling government interested in introducing new Lokayukta law, when president nodded for the Khanduri’s Lokayukta bill which was passed unanimously in the state legislative assembly on 31 October 2011.
Leader of Opposition in the state legislative assembly Ajay Bhatt said Congress government is not capable of handling the rising cases of strikes by various department unions. The state government is totally failure on all fronts.
Former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the state government is deep rooted in corruption, and its own party MLAs is targeting its government for failure of government on various fronts.
Congress MLA Pranav Champion highlighted the irregularities in land purchase scam of the Uttarakhand Forest Corporation which created flutter in the ruling party and created space for opposition to attack ruling Congress party. The matter was related to Srikant Chandola, Managing Director of the Uttarakhand Forest Corporation. Parliamentary Affairs minister Indira Hirdeyesh calmed the opposition by saying that a probe at the chief secretary level will be set-up to solve this issue.
