Land Bill strategy, image ‘correction’ on BJP radar

With the BJP-led NDA government facing flak from various quarters for the failure of ‘acche din’, as was promised, Modi is likely to focus on correcting what he considered the distorted perception about the functioning of his government.

“We are just 10 months into the government and have got major economic reforms on track, including the state-friendly mines and minerals Bill in Parliament, despite non-cooperation from Opposition benches.

“We will also discuss an action plan to improve door-to-door interaction with people and take Modi’s achievements and vision before them. Special focus would be laid on Modi’s vision towards farmers, youth, women and generating employment. All these issues will be discussed and an action plan will be prepared, with a pledge to fulfill the promises made in the manifesto,” BJP General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao told Millennium Post.

Another state leader, Jagadish Kumar, said, “We will evaluate our strong points and weaknesses and will highlight areas on uplifting the social status of the poor in the country. It will also have a separate session on whether central schemes are being properly implemented in states or not.”

The convention would begin with BJP President Amit Shah’s address on Friday. Following this, a resolution on foreign policies will be passed, praising the PM for raising the country’s stature in the global map. Besides, there will be a power point presentation on the contentious Land Acquisition Bill. All delegates will be acquainted with the benefits of Bill. “We will ask everybody to take the truth concerning this Bill because opposition leaders are misleading the masses,” BJP sources said.

On April 4 (Saturday), a political resolution will be passed, covering the economic aspects of the country. Besides, the Prime Minister would address a public rally that day. This speaks volumes for our abilities. The enormous wealth made by the government in the fresh auctioning of coal blocks is an indicator of acche din,” said a senior party leader, outlining the tenor of dialogue at the two-day convention being held in the state, which slipped out of BJP’s hands because of infighting within the party.

Over 300 delegates, including 111 special invitees, which also lists CMs of BJP-led state have already arrived. While the main event will be held at Hotel Lalit Ashok, the chief ministers and other senior leaders have checked in at Hotel Le Meridien, the media corps is staying at Hotel Capitol. The hotels have been put under high security.

Besides the government’s achievements, Modi’s Swachch Bharat message will also dominate the meet. A separate team has been asked to monitor round-the-clock cleanliness from HAL Airport to Hotel Lalit Ashok (PM route) and from the Bengaluru International Airport to the venue.
