Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad’s son Tej Pratap Yadav fumbled twice as the first time MLA took oath as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government on Friday, prompting Governor Ram Nath Kovind to correct him.
Yadav (25) uttered the word ‘upekshit’ (neglect) instead of ‘apekshit’ (expectation), virtually turning around the meaning of the sentence. The Governor pointed this out and asked Pratap, older of Prasad’s two sons, to take the oath again. In his second attempt, he said ‘jab’ (when) instead of ‘tab’ (then) and Kovind corrected him again.
The intermediate, equivalent to Class XII, passout took his oath in Hindi like Kumar and all 28 members of his cabinet.
Tej Pratap has been given the portfolio of Health.
His younger brother Tejashwi Prasad, who took his oath right before his embarrassed brother, meanwhile, did a flawless performance. He is likely to be Nitish Kumar’s deputy in the Bihar government.
While Lalu’s elder son Tej won from the Mahua constituency by a margin of 28,155 votes, his younger son Tejashwi won the Raghopur assembly seat by a margin of 22,733 votes
Among 28 ministers, there were only two women with one each coming from RJD and JD(U).
